If you are planning to visit San Diego, I highly recommend a trip to the famous "Pink Lady," La Valencia Hotel. There is no other hotel or venue that speaks to the San Diego vibe more (in my not-expert-at-all opinion), and in the heart of beautiful La Jolla, you truly can't beat the views or the surroundings. I can't imagine a better place to be surprised with a marriage proposal!
I was so delighted to work with my friend Suher of Francine Ribeau Events on the pink and gold stationery for this intimate, romantic event for these two lovebirds. This lucky lady walked in to what she thought was just any old date night, but what turned into a private balcony dinner overlooking the ocean - after seeing this setup, it's no surprise that she said yes!
Suher and her team put together the most beautiful oceanfront tablescape, with hanging glass globes, crystals, and candles galore for some mood lighting after the sunset! The florals were provided by Blooms By Breesa Lee, with this perfect garland draping over the entire table. The overall design played off of the coral and pink walls that give La Valencia its nickname as the Pink Lady.
Of the many romantic pieces in this proposal, one of our favorite were the little love notes he picked to have calligraphed with some of their favorite photos! I designed these on handmade paper, with gold calligraphy, and a touch of the coral and pink watercolor wash on each piece, to tie everything together. Seriously, how sweet was this groom for adding all these personalized touches for his future bride?!
In addition to the love notes, I created a few pieces for the tablescape as well! The groom secretly devised a delicious three-course menu for his perfect proposal. I stuck with the general feel of the love notes, with handmade paper and touches of pink watercolor. For the menus, however, a little gold edging added a little luxury without overshadowing the simplicity of Suher's overall design.
We used a little forward-thinking to create place card tiles with their future "Mr. and Mrs." tiles on them, as well as some labels for "Bride" and "Groom" to get them both in the mood for their marriage! These arabesque tiles are one of my favorite materials to write on as they are perfectly smooth, and have a gorgeous shape to them - in a larger group, they fit together to create a gorgeous escort card layout and guests can take them home as a souvenir at the end of the evening!
I couldn't resist sharing another view of this tabletop because, again, this garland! Paired with the gold flatware, glitzy linens, and touches of pink, this decadent dinner table is positively swoon-worthy!
